General Choice

For those who don’t fish frequently, it’s usually enough to prepare a 4.5-meter fishing rod. If you want to prepare one more, I think it’s enough to buy another 6.3-meter fishing rod.

Usually we say that a fishing rod within 5.4 meters can be called a short rod. Prepare a 4.5 meters fishing rod, which can deal with most situations when fishing near and shallowly during wild fishing.

For novices, if you don’t know how to choose a fishing rod, I usually recommend buying a 4.5-meter fishing rod first and giving it a try; for veterans, a 4.5-meter fishing rod is also a very high-use size.

In summer and winter, if you want to fish further, you usually prepare a 6.3-meter fishing rod. If you want to catch big fish in summer and autumn, with the current resource situation, it would be great to be able to catch four or five kilograms of fish, and a 6.3-meter fishing rod is enough to deal with it.

If there are a lot of aquatic plants near the shore in the fishing waters, but there are no aquatic plants on the far shore, then using a short rod is undoubtedly better than a long rod.

It is better to use a long rod in other situations

Although fish are very active in eating bait in spring, wild fish are still relatively vigilant, and the greater the individual, the higher the vigilance.

When the temperature rises, fish urgently need a lot of food, while shallow food is more abundant, so we have to fish for the "beach" in spring.

However, anglers should correctly understand this "beach". It is not simply shallow water on the nearshore. Even if this shallow is close to the shore, fish are more willing to move on the shallow side far away from the shore.

As we have said before, you need to find a relatively large shallow beach in spring. The area is farther away from the side of the shore, so it is more convenient to use a long rod.

Therefore, in addition to the two cases mentioned above, it is recommended to use a long rod in other cases. Of course, there is no need to be particularly long in spring. Generally, 5.4 meters or 6.3 meters is enough. Unless you encounter a particularly large shallow, using a long rod is not enough. You need to use a fishing platform to fish far away.
